The Pre-School (Age 3 to 4)

IBIS Pre School welcomes 3- 4-year-olds and offers a safe and stimulating environment in which they can learn from a variety of experiences.

It operates under the umbrella of the Infant School and is a happy lively unit in which caring teachers cater to individual needs and stages of development: where the strongest possible links with home are fostered, and where there are plenty of opportunities for first hand learning and cognitive growth.

The Pre-School has its own self-contained secure unit which includes a large carpeted main area as well as tiled wet areas, a kitchen, quiet room and bathroom facilities, The unit is surrounded by a large grassed area which, combined with a covered walkway and sandpit, provides generous outside play facilities.

The Pre-School coordinator leads the teaching team who plan a balanced day for the children which includes free and structured play, and story time as well as directed group time. The children regularly use the primary library and our specially designed soft play room provides endless fun and exercise, they have a weekly session with the specialist music teacher as well as their own daily sessions and enjoy both the splash pool (Proposed) during their swimming lesson. When they are ready, they take part in all Infant and Whole School activities including concerts, assemblies, book week and sports day.

The Infant School (Age 4 to 7)

Most visitors wish they were back at school when they see our Infant School facilities. Each year is housed in a separate ‘Pod’ equipped with its own kitchen, classrooms and central working area. Each ‘Pod’ is spacious and bright and takes on the term's theme in its entirety, displaying as much of the children's work as possible.

Infant School begins at four years of age in Reception and continues through Years One and Two. The development of the whole child is our focus in the Infant School.

Young children are active learners and therefore operate most effectively through first-hand experiences. They are encouraged to question, explore apply and test out what they know and can do. They are also encouraged to develop their ideas, understanding and language as they begin to assimilate the knowledge, concepts, and skills which will give them a basis to build on throughout their lives.

Teaching and learning strategies are varied according to the purpose of the task and the need of the child. The teaching staff are there to guide, encourage and challenge all within a caring and supportive environment that promotes children to be independent learners.

The Junior School (Age 7 to 11)

The four-year programme of the Junior School corresponds to Key Stage 2 of the CBSE National Curriculum and aims to produce confident and competent learners, who are able to communicate effectively.

Class and specialist teachers deliver the academic curriculum, which includes the following major areas: English, Mathematics. Science. Technology, History, Geography, Art, Music, Physical Education and Modern Languages, including Sanskrit and French (Proposed).

Teachers create imaginative and stimulating learning environments with each new term and the children take pride in seeing their work displayed. Visiting and local experts are frequently invited to the school and excursions and fieldtrips, which provide an extension to the curriculum, are encouraged.

The Senior School (Age 11 to 18)

The best of IBIS is that CBSE curriculum is offered in the Senior School. The programme provided respects and guides individuals according to their needs, while aiming to realise potentials, foster enthusiasm for learning, develop social skills within a multi-cultural environment, and help students to interpret and develop their roles in a changing world.

Naturally, success in external examinations is regarded as a priority in this section of the school. However, the "whole person" approach continues. Each pupil is encouraged to improve his self-discipline and awareness of others, not only in the classroom, but also with opportunities to travel greater distances from school for longer field trips and camps than in the primary years.
